WASHINGTON, USA

U.S CAPITOL - Seat of Congress since 1800.

Hyatt Regency Reston (Virginia, USA)
October 2-4 2007

On our Flight going to Washington, I can't believe there's only 36 Passengers!!! Only 36 PAX for a 14hrs flight!? Great! and on the way back to Doha only 42 Pax in Economy! Still light load so galley isn't that tiring after all. Since it's 14hrs flight we are given 3hrs 15mins. to rest in the BCRC (Bulk Crew Rest Compartment) IIt's my 1st time to use BCRC All I can say is It's such a big help to sleep during a long haul flight!

The hotel is located in the middle of a town center, but we arrive passed 9pm so the shops are close already so we just ate late dinner at Bhusara Thai Restaurant Since we only have 25hrs layover I wasn't able to walk around Reston Town Center =( Anyway, me our CS Bernie & Loubelle went out around 6am to wait for the bus on the way to the metro train station Smithsonian. I've been to Washington before (year 1994) but It's in Seattle, Washington. I'm glad I'll still be able to go to the U.S like the old times...There are still many places to see but here's some of the;

Recommended places to visit:

WASHINGTON MONUMENT - The 555ft. Marble Obelisk since 1884 & it's the world's tallest freestanding mansonry structure built for George Washington. The

WORLD WAR II MEMORIAL - honors the 16 million who served in the armed forces of the U.S., the more than 400,000 who died, and all who supported the war effort from home, from WWII memorial we can see & clearly take pictures of the Lincoln Memorial but we prefer to walk up close with LINCOLN MEMORIAL - The 19ft Marble statue sits in the classic Greel-style temple. WHITE HOUSE - Home of every U.S President and U.S CAPITOL - Seat of Congress since 1800. THE SMITHSONIAN CASTLE - Completed in 1855, The Castle is the easiest landmark to find the National Mall.

We also visited some museums like MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY - The museum's collections total over 125 million specimens of plants, animals, fossils, minerals, rocks, meteorites, and human cultural artifacts. NATIONAL GEM and MINERAL COLLECTION - The collection includes some of the most famous pieces of gems and minerals such as the famous Hope Diamond and the Star of Asia Sapphire. There are over 375,000 individual mineral samples, and a research collection used by scientists around the world.

NATIONAL AIR & SPACE MUSEUM -the most popular of the Smithsonian museums. It maintains the largest collection of aircraft and spacecraft in the world. It is also a vital center for research into the history, science, and technology of aviation and spaceflight, as well as planetary science and terrestrial geology and geophysics.

Stories behind my DAYS OFF in DOHA

September 27' 2007 at Khalifa Tennis Complex

Most of my Days off I'm just in my room doing my daily Internet-Eat-Sleep routine or sometimes if I'm a bit bored I will go to the mall by myself & unintentionally buy some stuff that I don't actually need just to forget my boredom & to please myself! BEING IN MY ROOM MAKES ME REMEMBER & MISS THE KIND OF LIFETSTYLE I HAD BEFORE; being outside just reminds me how sad being alone..

My past 2 months of Roster (Flight Schedule) are actually my worst months so far.. No much layovers, just tiring turnarounds that would give me enough to buy a prepaid card! Lot's of Days Off,Last minute roster change,Standby,No MNL,double sectors, flights with passengers that treats cabin crew as their servant/maid & flights with passengers that dressed intelligent but act STUPID!!! I've been Pissed off lately!!! but what to do!?

I don't have MNL or CEB again for the month of October but at least I have some destinations to swap for MNL.. I just hope they're willing to swap with me & It'll be approved! It's weird why they keep on giving MNL to indians & keep on giving me Indian destinations Every months for 10months now (Sometimes twice a month!!!) There comes a time I really get pissed off and called the rostering! I told them "Hello! I'm Filipino! I'm not Indian". I'm being to stressed lately that no matter how many sleeping pills I took It's still hard to sleep...

I miss waking up each morning with my breakfast prepared & no need to think what will I eat the rest of the day. I miss the delicious home-cooked dishes of my mom, I miss the conversation whenever my family & I plan a trip to visit my relatives in the U.S twice a year. I miss going somewhere knowing someone will drive for me. I miss malling with my family from morning to evening! (Literally the whole day!) and attending mass every sunday.. I miss it when I don't have to worry for my credit cards payment due (Because I'm just supplementary!!!) I also miss having a lovelife, hahaha! JOKE! I miss my room http://starvillanueva.multiply.com/photos/album/61/My_HOME_Sweet_HOME I miss our house, it's the only place on earth I called HOME.

There are lots of things that I miss & will be missing as time goes by... I still believe Everything's happen for a reason.. There's no perfect life so I better learn to live with it because life goes on. Despite of all the pressure I do feel now, I'm still thankful to God for everything, Thank you to those people sending me messages (nakakataba ng puso) & Thank you to all my friends here in Doha... May God continue to bless us all...

SINGAPORE & INDONESIA

Holiday Inn Atrium (Singapore) and Sheraton Bandara (Jakarta-Indonesia)
June 29 - July4 2007

June 30' 2007 We arrived at Holiday Inn Atrium around 2:30pm (Local time) then went straight to Orchard Shopping districts like Meridien,Ngee Ann City, OG Shopping Centre, Orchard Plaza & Centrepoint.. I was with 2 Malaysians FA as well.. (I didn't bring my camera) Those places were great but I don't like the climate, it's so hot. 35 degrees & we spent almost 3hrs in line for the taxi!

July 1-2 2007 - Arrived Sheraton Jakarta-Indonesia Around 5:30pm, I just slept immediately but woke up 3 in the morning! So I just walk around, go to Jacuzzi & Sauna.. In the afternoon I have nothing to do so I decided to treat myself with their famous "Chocolate Massage" Everyone in-flight were talking about how good & relaxing it is so I decided to try it. Since we have 20% discount in the spa I avail it with facial as well.. It was great! I can really smell the sweetness of Chocolate Facial Mask then they steam it & the chocolate melts in my face! My whole body smells like chocolate! How addicting! hehe!

July 3' 2007 - Back to Singapore, arrived around 2:30am went immediately at Newton Circus Food Centre since it's highly recommended by my colleagues! I was with Miew she's from Hongkong.. We ordered Chili Crabs (We didn't finish coz it's so huge!) Chicken Satay & Refreshing Coconut juice! I tried to sleep but I couldn't so I just decided to wait for the opening of shopping areas around the area. I went to Great World Shopping Centre & Ate at Mc donalds all by myself..I almost can't recall the last time I was in Singapore because I'm only 6yrs old then! Looking forward to be back in Singapore for the 3rd time once again with my family, if time permits...

July 3 - I meet my college friend Emgie & her husband. Went to Sentosa, Merlion Park, ride a cable car, Luge, Skyride & Ate at Taste of Singapore Restaurant.I had fun! Thanks Emgie! I hope to visit you again! Thanks for the gifts! Thanks for the memories...

Thank You...

DEAR GOD:
I want to thank You for what you have already done.

I am not going to wait until I see results or receive rewards; I am thanking
you right now.
I am not going to wait until I feel better or things look better; I am thanking you right now.

I am not going to wait until people say they are sorry or until they stop talking about me;  I am thanking you right now.

I am not going to wait until the pain in my body disappears; I am thanking you right now.

I am not going to wait until I get promoted at work, I am going to thank you right now.
I am not going to wait until I understand every experience in my life that has caused me pain or grief; I am thanking you right now.

I am not going to wait until the journey gets easier or the challenges are removed; I am thanking you right now.

I am thanking you because I am alive. I am thanking you because I made it through the day's difficulties. I am thanking you because I have walked around the obstacles.

I am thanking you because I have the ability and the opportunity to do more and do
better.

I'm thanking You because FATHER,
YOU haven't given up on me.

God is just so good, and he's good all the time. Send this message to  your friends, and continue to THANK HIM.

1st Annual Leave!!! Yey!!!

Start:     May 20, '07
End:     Jun 5, '07

Monday, May 7, 2007

I can't resist myself from reposting this Very Touching Story (It made me cry!)

I was born in a secluded village on a mountain.
Day by day, my parents plowed the yellow dry soil with their backs
towards the sky.

I have a brother who is 3 years younger than me.
I wanted to buy a handkerchief, which all girls around me seemed to
have. So, one day I stole 50 cents from my father's drawer. Father had
discovered about the stolen money right away.

He made me and my younger brother kneel against the wall as he held a
bamboo stick in his hand.

"Who stole the money?" he asked.
I was stunned, too afraid to talk. Neither of us admitted to the fault,
so he said, "Fine, if nobody wants to admit, you two should be beaten!"
He lifted up the bamboo stick.

Suddenly, my younger brother gripped father's hand and said," Dad, I was
the one who did it!"

The long stick smacked my brother's back repeatedly.
Father was so angry that he kept on whipping my brother until he lost
his breath.

After that, he sat down on our stone bed and scolded my brother, "You
have learned to steal from your own house now. What other embarrassing
things will you be possibly doing in the future? You should be beaten to
death, you shameless thief!"

That night, my mother and I hugged my brother. His body was full of
wounds from the beating but he never shed a single tear.

In the middle of the night, all of sudden, I cried out loudly. My
brother covered my mouth with his little hand and said, " Sis, now don't
cry anymore.
Everything has happened."
I still hate myself for not having enough courage to admit what I did.

Years gone by, but the incident still seemed like it just happened
yesterday..
I will never forget my brother's expression when he protected me.

That year, my brother was 8 years old and I was 11 years old.
When my brother was in his last year of secondary school, he was
accepted in an upper secondary school in the central. At the same time,
I was accepted into a university in the province.

That night, father squatted in the yard, smoking, packet by packet.

I could hear him ask my mother, "Both of our children, they have good
results? Very good results?"

Mother wiped off her tears and sighed," What is the use? How can we
possibly finance both of them?"

At that time, my brother walked out, he stood in front of father and
said,"Dad, I don't want to continue my studies anymore, I have read
enough books."

Father swung his hand and slapped my brother on his face.
"Why do you have a spirit so damn weak? Even if it means I have to beg
for money on the streets, I will send you two to school until you have
both finished your studies."

And then, he started to knock on every house in the village to borrow
money.

I stuck out my hand as gently as I can to my brother's swollen face, and
told him, "A boy has to continue his studies; If not, he will not be
able to overcome this poverty we are experiencing. "

I, on the other hand, had decided to further my studies at the
university.

Nobody knew that on the next day, before dawn, my brother left the house
with a few pieces of worn-out clothes and a few dry beans. He sneaked to
my side of the bed and left a note on my pillow; "Sis, getting into a
university is not easy. I will go find a job and I will send money to
you."

I held the note while sitting on my bed, and cried until I lost my
voice.

That year, my brother was 17 years old; I was 20 years old..
With the money father borrowed from the whole village, and the money my
brother earned from carrying cement on his back at a construction
site, finally, I managed to get to the third year of my studies in the
university.

One day, while I was studying in my room, my roommate came in and told
me,"There's a villager waiting for you outside!"

Why would there be a villager looking for me? I walked out, and I saw my
brother from afar. His whole body was covered with dirt, dust, cement
and sand. I asked him, "Why did you not tell my roommate that you are my
brother?"

He replied with a smile," Look at my appearance. What will they think if
they would know that I am your brother? Won't they laugh at you?"
I felt so touched, and tears filled my eyes. I swept away dirt and dust
from my brother's body. And told him with a lump in my throat, " I don't
care what people would say! You are my brother no matter what your
appearance is!"

From his pocket, he took out a butterfly hair clip. He
put it on my hair and said, "I saw all the girls in town are wearing it.
So, I think you should also have one."

I could not hold back myself anymore. I pulled my brother into my arms
and cried.

That year, my brother was 20 years old; I was 23 years old.
I noticed that the broken window was repaired the first time I brought
my boyfriend home. The house was scrubbed cleaned.
After my boyfriend left, I danced like a little girl in front of my
mother, "Mom, you didn't have to spend so much time cleaning the house!"
But she told me with a smile," It was your brother who went home early
to clean the house. Didn't you see the wound on his hand?
He hurt his hand while he was replacing the window."
I went into my brother's bedroom. Looking at his thin face, I felt like
there are hundreds of needle pricked in my heart.

I applied some ointment on his wound and put a bandage on it, "Does it
hurt? " I asked him.

"No, it doesn't hurt. You know, when at the construction site, stones
keep falling on my feet .

Even that could not stop me from working."

In the middle of the sentence, he stopped. I turned my back on him and
tears rolled down my face.

That year, my brother was 23 years old; I was 26 years old.
After I got married, I lived in the city. Many times my husband invited
my parents to come and live with us, but they didn't want.
They said, once they left the village, they wouldn't know what to do.
My brother agreed with them. He said, "Sis, you just take care of your
parents-in-law. I will take care of mom and dad here."

My husband became the director of his factory. We asked my brother to
accept the offer of being the manager in the maintenance department. But
my brother rejected the offer. He insisted on working as a repairman
instead for a start.

One day, my brother was on the top of a ladder repairing a cable, when
he got electrocuted, and was sent to the hospital.

My husband and I visited him at the hospital. Looking at the white
gypsum on his leg, I grumbled, "Why did you reject the offer of being a
manager? Managers won't do something dangerous like that. Now look at
you, you are suffering from a serious injury. Why didn't you just listen to
us?"

With a serious expression on his face, he defended his decision,
"Think of brother-in-law. He just became the director, and I being
uneducated, and would become a manager, what kind of rumors would fly
around?"

My husband's eyes filled up with tears, and then I said, "But you lack
in education only because of me!"
"Why do you talk about the past?" he said and then he held my hand.

That year, he was 26 years old and I was 29 years old.
My brother was 30 years old when he married a farmer girl from the
village.

During the wedding reception, the master of ceremonies asked him, "Who
is the one person you respect and love the most?"

Without even taking a time to think, he answered," My sister." He
continued by telling a story I could not even remember.

"When I was in primary school, the school was in a different village.
Everyday, my sister and I would walk for 2 hours to school and back
home. One day, I lost the other pair of my gloves. My sister gave me one
of hers.

She wore only one glove and she had to walk far. When we got home, her
hands were trembling because of the cold weather that she could not even
hold her chopsticks. From that day on, I swore that as long as I live,
I would take care of my sister and will always be good to her."
Applause filled up the room. All guests turned their attention to me.
I found it hard to speak, "In my whole life, the one I would like to
thank most is my brother," And in this happy occasion, in front of the
crowd, tears were rolling down my face again.

-Love and care for the one you love every single day of your life. You
may think what you did is just a small deed, but to that someone, it may
mean a lot.

Have a nice day everyone! May this story inspire you in some way.

It was long haul flight with 2 meal service and I was Galley Operator! When I got home my whole body is aching, my lower back is numb, my feet is swollen, my neck is in pain, My eyes is so red, I have migraine, I have bruises, I have scratches, I put Salonpas all over my body & pain reliever gel! I can't explain how tired I am, Since we're lacking 1 crew in Economy, I have to be in the cabin & in the galley at the same time! I hate being in the Galley! Endless stuff to do, things to arrange, heavy things to lift, etc.

It's my 3rd time in London, supposed to be 4th time already, but I swapped my flight last February for MNL... I wonder Why they're giving me London every month, I want to try other countries next time! hehe!

As usual I don't have enough sleep... Because I'm the type of person who can't sleep easily, Proper Sleeping pattern has always been my problem eversince I was younger..

Believe it or not, Being a flight attendant is not just about serving! There are "hundreds" of responsibilities & tasks to do, before, during & after the flight... but if you love to travel, love to take pictures like me! Explore different places, shop in different destinations, taste all kinds of cuisines, etc. this job suits you...

We went to National Gallery, Grosvenor Square (U.S Embassy),Trafalgar Square (Nelson's Column), See Princess Diana Memorial Fountain, Admiralty arch & the Royal Opera House, etc. We had dinner in The Lord moon of the Mall Cafe along White Hall & Bought Souvenir stuff in Crest of London & Grocery some food in Sainbury. When we reach London Eye & Big Ben it's almost evening.

"Too much Place to see, Too much stuff to do, Too Little time!" But The bottom line is, I had great time & I want to thank God for all the spontaneous and never ending shower of blessings & for giving me too much of everything...

First Officcer Mohamed Fadl
CSD Laureana Jumangit
Estrellita Villanueva

Nieoua Lourens
Ranjani Daual
Eka Gelashia
Nazli Isaacs
Samantha Naidu
Lukasz Cholewinshi
Brunell Disa

It was a short Layover to Colombo, Sri Lanka but I enjoyed it. The Crew was nice & fun to be with. We all had coffee & snacks when we arrived in the Hotel. Then I just watch TV in my room and since I woke up so early I went to Gym & bought some tea.

It was 4 hrs & 30 minutes away from Doha, I experienced some turbulance & It was my first time to hear "Cabin Crew Pls take your seats" 39,000 ft above because it's really dangerous to walk around that time.

When we arrived Doha Airport, while outside the aircraft waiting for our crew transport to the technical building. We all had picture taking as requested by our Captain! hehe! Didn't got the chance to take pictures as many as I can but still the layover was memorable enough. =)

January 28-29 2007

Arrived Frankfurt around 7 in the morning (Local time) then take shower & Sleep for 3hrs, I was expecting to buy lots of chocolates there coz they said it's much cheaper there but we arrived there in Sunday and almost all shops are closed there during Sundays so we've just been to the Airport Shopping Avenue because it's the only shop open during anyday then we went back to the hotel & had a coffee in the Swimming pool area.

We also went to the main city of Frankfurt, saw many great architectures & sceneries but unfortunately it was almost midnight already so it's not the best to take many pictures =( When I arrived in the Hotel I was just awake the whole time! So I just waited for the wellness Center to open at 6:30am and go to Sauna & Steam bath for awhile I even had a 2 Euro discount because I asked if there's a discount for cabin crew so I just paid 6 Euro instead... Our Pick up time is 7:40pm so I just sleep & rest before my flight going back to Doha...

My 22nd year of priveleged existence & More than a month of flying...

Few days from now, will be my 22nd year of existence in the world already! (January 25) I’ve been keeping a daily Journal spontaneously for 6 years now, After more than a month of flying, I’ve realized that I had so many good experiences that I would love to go back to, I’m glad I love taking pictures!!! (For remembrance), but how can I ever forget my 1st layover in Trivandrum, India - It was such a nice experience, the hotel was nice (beachfront rooms) the breakfast buffet was great… Then, (Dec.16’2006) Vienna, Austria- I wasn’t that prepared when I went there, I have no scarf & gloves with me because I wasn’t expecting the climate will be extremely cold! It’s also the day the ATM machine had taken my card because I entered wrong pin! I’ve also been to (Dec.23-24’2006) Cochin, India- Take lots of pictures, went to spa & ate in an Indian restaurant. Bahrain- night stop in Intercontinental Hotel, It was less than 4 hours stay and as usual I didn’t sleep, I take pictures instead… (Dec.30-31’2006) Kuala Lumpur- We just stayed in Pan Pacific Airport hotel no much scenery for picture taking but I enjoyed my duty free shopping there, bought lots of groceries & perfumes…

(January 3-6’2007) Finally, I got Manila flight! After 3 months of being away to my family… When we landed NAIA, I’m so excited to go to our hotel (Crowne Plaza Galleria) because my family is waiting in the lobby… Though I’m so sleepy & tired due to 9hrs flight from Doha to Manila, still my Manila stay are worth it… 1st night went to mall & had a body massage at Fitness First then sleep for awhile went to Antipolo Church with my family to attend mass at 4am & also had breakfast… Then went to my dentist, Optical shop had a contact lens upgrades, beauty salon, groceries & went shopping again!

After Manila, I had a 4 days off & Standby before my flight to (January 11-12’2007) Bangkok, Thailand-  Went to Mall & went to spa for Jetlag massage, Sleep at around 2am woke up around 5am, since I can't sleep anymore, I used the Hotels' Steam bath & Sauna then Swimming all by myself! I went to the spa again for foot massage.. Since they don't accept Qatar Riyals, I withdraw money from the ATM machine & forgot my ATM card! (Here we go again) After spa walk around again & bought some groceries & ate at Thai restaurant..

Arrived Doha at almost 1am of January 13, still have my Doha-Dubai-Doha turn around departure at 8:30pm later evening! Then arrived Doha at 12:30am of January 14 still have my double sector flight! Doha-Abu Dhabi-Doha- Kuwait-Doha! My pick up time is 11:30am! Spent 3 hours in Abu Dhabi Duty free, bought some perfumes then, Arrived Doha at 11:50pm It's my 1st time to spent my entire week flying without sufficient rest.. Thank God my double sector was delayed so they just cancelled my next morning flight to Riyadh or else I won't be able to sleep again & I don't know what will happen next…

Despite of sleepless nights, turning day into night & having abnormal sleeping patterns, I honestly feel so lucky & privilege having all these things so I might as well share it with you… I’m exploring different countries & being paid to do it, and because only few jobs offer the chance to work in a different environment every day, with different scenery, surrounded by different faces, Try many cuisines all over the world, shopping in different destinations & take lots of pictures in different scenery, having discounts in some business establishments- restaurants & shops including duty free with our I.D, But the biggest benefit of all is walking through the airport in uniform, head held high, pulling wheeled flight trolley, and having people look admiringly at you... If you fly internationally as a flight attendant, the world will be your playground, you can go virtually anywhere on vacation!

Then went to 7-11 just outside the hotel & bought something to eat.. Then at around 11am I called Frans, we went to the spa again for foot massage this time.. Since they don't accept Qatar Riyals, I withdraw money from the ATM machine & forgot my ATM card! (How clever!)
